Pollok, Texas, a little over 100 miles northeast of Franklin, saw two children, aged 3 and 8, killed by a falling tree that landed on the vehicle in which they were riding on Saturday. They were in the back seat with their parents in the front, said Angelina County Sheriff's Department Capt. Alton Lenderman.
According to the Post, a tornado that struck the Central Texas town of Franklin destroyed 55 homes, and injured over a dozen people.
The weather service also says preliminary information showed an EF-3 tornado with winds of 140 mph touched down in Franklin, located about 125 miles (200 kilometers) south of Dallas.
In neighboring Houston County, the sheriff's office said one person was killed in Weches, 6 miles southwest of Caddo Mound. Multiple people were injured and several homes were damaged in Hamilton, Mississippi, said Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley. A 95-year-old man died after a tree fell on his trailer in MS and a 13-year-old in Louisiana also died after he drowned in a drainage canal, officials said. Another 19 were taken to hospitals, including two who were in critical condition. "Deputies located the vehicle submerged in the floodwater with the deceased victim inside".
The watch came just hours after an earlier line of severe weather brought a few possible tornadoes to parts of north Georgia.
In preparation for the inclement weather reaching Georgia, the Augusta National announced it would move up the start time on Sunday for Round 4 of the Masters in hope that play would finish before thunderstorms reached the golf course, according to CBS.
The first one will arrive Sunday evening and the second late Sunday night into very early Monday morning.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
