World's First 1TB MicroSD Cards Shown Off at MWC

1TB microSD cards will boost the storage of your device, if you can afford it

What separates the 1TB SanDisk Extreme UHS-I microSD card from the Micron C200 1TB microSDXC UHS-I card is speed.

Western Digital's (NYSE:WDC) SanDisk unveils the 1TB SanDisk Extreme UHS-1 microSDXC card, which the company says is the "world's fastest" for capturing and moving phones and videos on smartphones, drones, and action cameras. Well, technology evolved and slowly smartphone makers started offering more respectable amounts of storage yet they relied on users to buy microSD cards. In addition to this new 1TB variant of the Extreme UHS-I microSDXC card, the company is also announcing a 512GB model at a significantly lower price.

Handset vendors have been steadily increasing built-in storage on high-end devices, and that's great news for anyone worrying about not having enough memory for all their photos, videos, and all the extra content they want to have handy at any given moment. MicroSD express supports the ... SanDisk has committed to launching its card in April, and it's already available for pre-order from SanDisk's web site.

Micron has not yet revealed the price of its 1TB microSD card, but it will be available in the second quarter of 2019.
