The singer-songwriter is nominated for six awards at the 2019 Grammys, making her the most nominated female artist and the third most nominated artist behind Kendrick Lamar and Drake.

Cardi B, who will perform later on Sunday, could break that trend and take home not only her first ever Grammy but potentially become the first rapper since 2004 to win the coveted album of the year award for her "Invasion of Privacy".

The music world will hit the red carpet on Sunday for the Grammys, with a wider selection of nominees - led by hip-hop royalty and a bevy of talented women - up for the top prizes. This year, 15 women are nominated in the big four categories, including Gaga, Chloe x Halle, Carlile, Janelle Monae, and Cardi B.

Among the first to walk the red carpet was Camila Cabello, who will open the ceremony later.

Brandi Carlile, the folk singer nominated for six Grammys including album, song and record of the year, looked to Monae and said: "Girl, I would vote you into presidency".

A source close to the singer told CNN that the show's "producers were dictating what songs she could sing".

"This song was No. 1 for 50 f**king weeks", she said, while also telling the band to stop playing.
