US singer Chris Brown detained in Paris on rape accusations, police officials say

Chris Brown has denied the allegations he raped a woman in Paris following his arrest earlier this week. Brown - along with two other individuals, including his bodyguard - remain in custody as officials decide whether to file preliminary charges.

The "Loyal" singer, 29, was investigated by police after the woman, 24, alleged in a complaint filed to the 1st arrondisement commisseriat that she was raped by Brown at his hotel between January 15 and 16, according to French outlet Closer.

The outlet says it confirmed with French judicial officials that Brown could face an aggravated rape charge and drug infractions.

One day ago, Brown shared a photo of himself at a dance studio in Paris to Instagram, which he captioned, "Dance REHEARSAL!" The woman revealed that on January 15 and 16, she and her friends met Chris at the club Le Crystal in the 8th arrondissement near the Champs-Elysees.

Brown had many run-ins with the law since then.

Brown was convicted in 2009 of assaulting singer Rihanna, who was then his girlfriend. He pleaded guilty and completed his probation in 2015 (via HuffPost).

In 2013, Brown was charged with misdemeanor assault after he was accused of striking a man outside a Washington hotel.

In 2016, he was arrested on suspicion of asault with a deadly weapon after a woman said he'd threatened her with a gun, but he was later released without charge. He was arrested for felony battery two months later, in July, for allegedly punching a photographer the year before.
