Donald Trump Picks Anti-Muslim Official For U.S

Trump's cabinet shake-up kicks into gear

Trump to name Heather Nauert as UN ambassador tomorrow, reports say

But after a year and a half explaining State Department positions, Nauert now has more foreign policy experience than Haley did when she became the US ambassador to the United Nations.

While Nauert will be a leading administration voice on Trump's foreign policy, a White House official told The Associated Press that her post would be a non-Cabinet position.

In October, Haley announced that she was leaving the post by the end of the year.

Now the spokesperson for the State Department, Nauert is regarded as a close ally of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Former President Barack Obama's United Nations ambassadors, Susan Rice and Samantha Power, had the designation, as did Haley, who came to the role after being South Carolina's governor. She is a graduate of Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and Mount Vernon College in Washington.

In her new role, Nauert would be responsible for maintaining global support for economic sanctions against North Korea and continuing the Trump administration's unflinching support for Israel in the face of mounting scrutiny at the United Nations.

China to 'immediately' apply measures agreed in trade truce with US
The two agreed to hold off on new tariffs of each other's exports pending renewed talks on an overall agreement over trade rules. His "tariff man" declaration also contradicts assertions made by the White House that Trump preferred a deal to tariffs.

After her appointment as acting undersecretary, she was for a time the highest-ranking woman and fourth highest-ranking official at State.

Ahead of the vote, the U.S. ambassador sent a letter to all UN missions to make clear that "the United States takes the outcome of this vote very seriously".

Pompeo said on Twitter that he had "great confidence" in Nauert and called for her quick confirmation.

However Ms Haley has made no secret of the fact that she has had policy disagreements with Mr Trump.

"When you talk about Germany, we have a very strong relationship with the government of Germany", Nauert said, adding: "Tomorrow is the anniversary of the D-day invasion".

Lady Gaga Is Already a Golden Globes Winner
If she takes home the trophy, she'll be the first singer to win Best Actress in a Drama , which is quite a feat. Critics have praised Christian Bale's portrayal of Cheney.

She has also worked as a general assignment reporter for ABC News.

Two of Mr Trump's advisers have said he is weighing a number of other end-of-year staff changes, including replacing Chief of Staff, John Kelly. The latter is Trump's favorite cable news network, which helped her land the State Department job.

But Bruen, who now heads the Global Situation Room consulting firm, questioned whether Nauert was the best pick when "American influence on the world stage is at a historic low".

From Fox & Friends to the State Department, and now likely to the United Nations. And the pick for the high-profile United States policy megaphone, seems more than justified, at least at first glance.

"Now in terms of formulating policy, I suspect that she is not going to play the role that Nikki Haley did as ambassador to the United Nations", Schaefer said.

Trump to name Heather Nauert as United Nations ambassador tomorrow, reports say
It was reported in November that Nauert had been offered the job, but it was not clear at the time whether she had accepted. But Trump has also used the United Nations to try to advance his foreign policy agenda on Iran and North Korea.

But the Senate, which alone needs to confirm Nauert, is still under the control of TrumpĀ“s Republican Party.
