Migrant Caravan Pentagon Refuses Trump Order to Deploy US Troops to Border

The U.S. Border Patrol late last month warned landowners in Texas to expect "possible armed civilians" to come onto their property because of the caravan, The Associated Press reported.

President Donald Trump tweeted last week that the caravan of migrants traveling toward the US border could be taken down by lethal force.

Army specialists said their first big task is to help reinforce the ports of entry with new barbed wire fencing.

Indeed, these four caravans now are traveling inside Mexico, totaling some 12,000 Central American migrants, as a separate Fox News report indicated on Sunday and as other outlets have noted.

First came the insistence that the country had nothing to do with the disappearance of one of its high-profile critics. It later admitted he had been murdered, saying the killing was premeditated and a result of a "rogue operation".

Trump tasked the USA military with providing logistical, transportation and medical support for the Department of Homeland Security's border mission, Dunford said. But they do that with us, they're going to be arrested for a long time. Captain Bill Speaks, another Pentagon spokesman added, "we have not received a request from DHS to build facilities to house migrant families".

But on Monday Trump made it sound as if the active-duty troops assigned to Operation Faithful Patriot would play a more visible role. "They're going to wait and if they don't get asylum, they get out", Trump told Fox News.

"The rest of the day in the southwest border region would be deployed 5.2 thousand soldiers".

The Pentagon last week announced it would deploy roughly 5,200 active-duty troops to support the mission in Texas, Arizona and California, dubbed Operation Faithful Patriot.

He did score the victor in their comeback win over Newcastle United four weeks ago, but that was his first and only goal of the season.

"They want to throw rocks at our military, our military is going to fight back ... we will consider that a firearm" he had said on Thursday. But border patrol and local law enforcement say this is a risky area exploited by smugglers, so they welcome the help.

The cost of mobilizing all those troops is estimated to be around $220 million.

Manning said only military police would carry weapons and stressed that there were no plans for US troops to come in contact with protesters or migrants. Mr. Trump has blasted illegal immigration in the past, and called for the importance of border security. While beginning in Honduras, it reached a peak of 7,000 people as many from other Central American nations joined in the 1,553-mile (2,500-kilometer) journey to reach the U.S.by foot.

Some people living in the area are calling the move a midterm election stunt.
