There's bad news for Caitlyn Jenner, 69, as it's being reported the fire has destroyed her 3,500 square foot, 4-bedroom pad overlooking the Malibu coastline.

CNN says that in total, the fires caused 150,000 Californians to be evacuated from their homes last night.

Kim Kardashian, Alyssa Milano and Melissa Etheridge were among thousands fleeing from their homes in and around Malibu on Friday, as a fast-moving wildfire forced evacuations from the celebrity-packed area.

Ventura and Los Angeles county agencies have a unified command of the incident, in addition to CalFire.

In Thousand Oaks, flames creeping down a hillside were visible from the teen center on Janns Road - named for the family that originally developed the hilly terrain covered with majestic California oaks into what has become a bedroom community of 130,000.

Several evacuation sites were issuing protective masks for citizens, Ventura County Emergency Services said.

Highway 101 is now open in both directions in Ventura County, but is closed farther south in Los Angeles County due to the Woolsey Fire burning near the border between the two counties.

The blaze, known as the Woolsey Fire, is spreading south, has jumped a major highway and is now threatening coastal areas including parts of Malibu.

The Hill Fire started at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hill Canyon Road west of Santa Rosa Road, near Camarillo.

It's one of dozens of houses already destroyed by the blaze.

The full extent of the destruction is still unknown, but authorities believe up to 1,000 buildings have been destroyed - most of those in Paradise, a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) spokesman said. "This fire moved so fast and grew so fast a lot of people got caught by it".

"People were abandoning their cars and running with their babies and kids". One woman stuck in traffic went into labour, the Enterprise-Record newspaper reported. Highway 70, located near the wildfire, was closed down and the California Highway Patrol asked drivers to avoid the road.

A wildfire burning in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas quadrupled in size, cutting power off from more than 23,000 homes and businesses late Thursday.
