WHITE HOUSE: Trump questions global report on climate change

No change in Qld after dire climate report

'Heatwave to affect people in India, Pakistan'

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer, who is on a trip to India touting new infrastructure to ship more oil and gas overseas, said he will leave the findings of the IPCC report to the scientists.

This is despite the release of a special report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) this week that outlined the urgency of taking unprecedented action to avert climate change.

As for the droughts reportedly causing wildfires in the western USA, "the IPCC admits there is "low confidence in the sight of drought trends since 1950 at global scale" and that "there are 'likely to be trends in some regions of the world, ' including increasing droughts in the Mediterranean and decreasing droughts in parts of North America".

Science has spoken in detail about climate change. We ask that any comments by climate-change denialists be flagged for moderation. Since the mid-1800s the climate has already warmed by 1C.

The Yankees were good, but they didn't expect Boston to be better
And by the time David Robertson succeeded Betances to start the seventh inning, he enjoyed the benefit of a 6-0 cushion. Boston had a historic season, blowing past NY in the AL East race thanks to a franchise-record 108 wins.

"Fonterra, our second-largest coal user - has already committed to continue building coal-fired boilers until 2030". Furthermore, if we managed to shave off that extra 0.5 of a degree, the world would still be on the way to flooded coastlines, intense droughts and heat, and the loss of many industries.

"This change can happen in two ways: in our collected effect on the climate and biodiversity, and the runaway effect of powerful new technologies, such bio, cyber and artificial intelligence".

In 2016 they were nearly twice that. That change has contributed to sea level rise, the melting of Arctic sea ice, coral bleaching of ocean reefs and ocean acidification. The IPCC calculates that a further temperature rise of about 1 degree - nearly inevitable, given our dependence on coal, oil and gas - would be challenging but manageable.

The report's authors projected that staying at or below 1.5 degrees Celsius will require slashing the world's greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent from 2010 levels by 2030 ― and reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2050 ― targets that many GOP lawmakers brushed off as infeasible.

N. Korea’s Kim invites Pope Francis to Pyongyang
Wang Yi said he told Pompeo during a meeting Monday that a shadow has been cast "over the future of China-U.S. relations". Trump said on Twitter that, "Progress made on Singapore Summit Agreements!" On that occasion, he did not meet with Kim.

The Paris Agreement adopted by 195 nations at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC in December 2015 included the aim of strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change by "holding the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre- industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels". To prevent massive disruption, we need to nearly completely retool our global economy in about 12 years.

The data in the UN's new document is unlikely to sway Trump, who has vowed to pull the US out of the Paris Agreement and has taken steps to dismantle every major policy created to reduce the nation's carbon footprint.

Both Labor and the Greens attacked the Coalition government, signalling the likelihood that climate change will become a major issue at the next federal poll due by mid-2019.

The Labor party has capitalised on the IPCC report and used it to demonstrate the their view that the Coalition isn't unified on its' approach to climate change and that more conservative elements of the party are undermining the Government's ability to put forward sensible policy in regards to emissions reduction. On top of this, Trump's America wants to dump spending on health, public education, culture and poverty programs. "Within a few generations he is burning the fossil fuels that slowly accumulated in the earth over the past 500 million years".
