Palo Alto University professor Christine Blasey Ford, who came forward with accusations of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, said in a letter on Monday to Senate Judiciary Committee chair Chuck Grassley that she felt "agony yet urgency" to tell her story.

The 53-year-old Kavanaugh, now a federal appeals court judge in Washington DC, flatly denies the accusations.

Ramirez said in an article published Sunday by The New Yorker magazine that Kavanaugh put his sex organs close to her face, causing her to touch him without her consent. The alleged victim, Deborah Ramirez, says she was assaulted by Brett Kavanaugh during his freshman year at Yale.

Instead, bipartisan Judiciary Committee staff will seek to interview Ramirez privately about her allegation, said Senator John Cornyn of Texas, the second-ranking Republican.

"The Democrats are playing a con game". We're talking about an allegation of sexual assault. He said he'd never done anything like the episodes his accusers have described and said he didn't have sexual intercourse until "many years" after high school. "Oh gee, lets not make him a Supreme Court judge because of that". "The second accuser thinks maybe it could have been him, maybe not".

President Donald Trump nominated the federal appeals court judge in July to succeed Anthony Kennedy, who retired from the bench.

"He's a high quality person, he's a great intellect", Trump said in remarks to reporters at the United Nations, accusing Democrats of portraying Kavanaugh as someone he is not.

This post has been updated with Murkowski's interview to the New York Times. She said that although she is frightened, "my fear will not hold me back from testifying and you will be provided with answers to all of your questions". "I'm just being honest", said Senator Lindsey Graham.

And McConnell on Monday accused Democrats of trying to "smear" Kavanaugh, which is a disingenuous claim. "I mean charges come up from 36 years ago that are totally unsubstantiated".

"It's very hard to have these conversations with your children, which we've had to have", she said.

David Luiz , Mateo Kovacic and Emerson Palmieri have also been left behind by Sarri. "We have to continue in the same way". The Austrian is struggling with a knock to his knee but his manager is hopeful the attacker will be available.

Trump says Ramirez says it might not have been Kavanaugh and there were gaps in her memory.

Republicans have hired a female attorney to handle questioning during this week's hearing with Christine Blasey Ford and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell say they are determined to get Kavanaugh on the court, calling the allegations against him false and politically motivated.

They could also play decisively in the November midterm elections, where Republican control of both houses of Congress is under threat. Go ahead and ruin this guy's life based on an accusation - I don't know when it happened, I don't know where it happened and everybody named in regard to being there, said it didn't happen.

Sanders, speaking on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Tuesday, didn't specify whether the White House would support a public or private hearing involving Ramirez. "I've never sexually assaulted anyone", Kavanaugh said in the interview, sitting alongside his wife.

He has indicated privately he will not look to force a transfer in January but will reassess his options at the end of the season. He told Sky Sports: "The only truth is that I made the decision of Pogba not to be the second captain anymore".

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh reacts as he testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, Sept. 5, 2018.

Senators were told to be prepared for a rare weekend session and McConnell said he was confident Kavanaugh would be confirmed.

Kavanaugh and his Republican allies portrayed the allegations as part of a "smear campaign" by Democrats who have fought his nomination from the outset.
