Owaisi's demand came after former French president Francois Hollande said that it was the Indian government who proposed Reliance Defence as the partner for Dassault Aviation for the deal and that he had nothing to do with it.

"We didn't have a say on the subject".

The report in Mediapart, a French language publication, quoted Hollande as saying, "It was the Indian government that proposed this service group, and Dassault which negotiated with Ambani".

On Friday, 21 September, the former French president Francois Hollande told a French newspaper that France was not given an option of choosing a local partner for Dassault Aeronautics.

The French government also released a statement, saying it was not involved in the choice of the Indian partner and that French companies had complete freedom to select Indian firms for the offset part of the deal.

"Not even one word has come out of his mouth after Hollande's statement", Rahul added. The opposition parties have also alleged Reliance Defence was formed just 12 days before the announcement of the Rafale deal by the prime minister on 10 April 2015. Shah said. "Rahul baba should make his stand clear on the issue of urban Naxals to the people of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh". "We are absolutely convinced that PM of India is corrupt".

It interviewed Hollande on phone in which he said: "I intervened in this affair (Rafale) with the two prime ministers, to say that I was keen for this negotiation". "One should think four times before levelling any baseless allegation".

The prime minister dismissed the allegations as "childish" as the program's interactions are between the governments of India and France, without any middlemen. "Her position is untenable & she must resign", the Congress chief said.

He further said that the life-cycle costs of the aircraft would have been cheaper if they had been made in India.

BJP president Amit Shah, too, attacked Gandhi over his remarks.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi's recent speeches testify that he is anything but consistent. Pakistan says "Modi Hatao".

"Defence Minister has been called out again!" Shortly after Hollande's remarks, the French government and Dassault Aviation, the French aircraft manufacturer have since issued statements respectively.
