Trump's Space Force Needs $8 Billion Over 5 Years, Pence Says

Pentagon to create new command for fighting in space but resists Trump's proposed 'space force'

President Trump’s plan for a new military service focused on space-based operations faces an uncertain future

Mike Pence, the USA vice president, has announced plans to create a standalone "Space Force" by 2020, becoming the sixth branch of America's military.

But he, too, isn't convinced that a Space Force is the answer.

The vice president asserted the administration is seeking to add the new military branch by 2020. "This is a critical step toward's establishing the Space Force as the sixth branch of our armed forces". Another dissed the ridiculous plan, writing, "Gov't: Sorry we can't give you healthcare, we had to stick to absolute necessities like [checks notes] a Space Force".

Critics argue that Trump's Space Force would be stepping on the toes of the U.S. Air Force Space Command, which now oversees the nation's military operations in space.

It includes the establishment of a U.S. Space Command, a new combatant command focused on space as a warfighting domain.

Conte ultimately departed the club and he was replaced by Sarri, leaving Willian pleased to stick it out with the London side. Maurizio Sarri had expected to speak to Courtois about his future after conceding on Sunday the goalkeeper could be sold.

A campaign email is asking Trumpers to vote on one of six Space Force logos that will be emblazoned on future Trump campaign items.

Congress representatives Mike Rogers (R-AL) and Jim Cooper (D-TN), respectively Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, said in a joint statement, "We have been warning for years of the need to protect our space assets and to develop more capable space systems".

Currently, the Air Force oversees most space capabilities and there is some push back from officials who worry Space Force's mission would be duplicative and create turf wars. At the time, Defense Secretary James Mattis was against the idea of a sixth branch.

"Other nations are seeking to disrupt our space-based systems and challenge American supremacy in space as never before", the vice president said.

For months, US President Donald Trump has been calling a Space Force, a new, free-standing military department, with its own chain of command and uniforms. The Department of Defense has prepared a report laying out the phases of creating the new branch, which will ultimately have to be reviewed and approved by Congress.

Liverpool FC could launch a last-gasp bid to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir before deadline day, according to a report in France. Nabil Fekir will not feature for Lyon against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this evening as talk of a move to London rumbles on.

In a speech at the Pentagon in Washington DC, he said that while space was once peaceful and uncontested, it is now crowded and adversarial.

In March this year, Mr Trump's National Space Strategy was said to recognise U.S. "competitors and adversaries have turned space into a warfighting domain".

But just past year, Mattis voiced skepticism on the need to create a separate Space Force. Space Force as a presidential marketing campaign, however, is already blasting off. The sky is teeming with spy satellites and other platforms that support government surveillance, communications, weather forecasting and other activities.

Their remarks were timed to coincide with the release of a Pentagon report outlining the steps needed to create a Space Force, something it does not have the power to do on its own.
