Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro reacts during an event which was interrupted, in this still frame taken from video August 4, 2018, Caracas, Venezuela.

Maduro was seen speaking at an outdoor military event when he and other officials suddenly looked upwards - startled. The soldiers lined up in front of Maduro can be seen breaking ranks and running before the transmission was cut.

Earlier, various reports by global media outlets had indicated that this was an assassination attempt on Maduro.

"We are going to bet for the good of our country", Maduro declared triumphantly moments before the explosion.

A Colombian official with the president's office described Maduro's claims that Santos was involved in the attack as baseless.

Brown On Wildfires Outbreak: ‘We Are In For A Rough Ride’
Officials are lifting more evacuations across Shasta County as firefighters gain containment on a wildfire burning in the region. The Carr Fire had grown into the 6th most destructive fire in state history surpassing the 2017 Nuns Fire in Sonoma County.

There is also a somewhat conciliatory version on Twitter, which stipulates that at least one of the drones crashed into a nearby building, sparking a fire which the firefighters then went to extinguish.

However, there is still a loyal core of people who support Mr Maduro and his United Socialist Party (PSUV), saying Venezuela's problems are caused not by the government but by imperialist forces such as the US.

The country's information minister later said several drones loaded with explosives landed close to the event.

Maduro, who is serving his sixth term as the president of Venezuela, has been facing backlash as the country has been under severe economic crisis for the past five years, which further led to malnutrition, hyperinflation and mass emigration. "The hour of the economy recovery has come".

USA president thanks North Korea for sending war remains
The repatriation is a breakthrough in a long-stalled United States effort to obtain war remains from North Korea. An American military plane was able to enter North Korea on Friday to pick up the remains of the soldiers.

Photographs on social media appeared to show bodyguards shielding Maduro with black bulletproof panels.

"We showed that they are vulnerable", the group said in a tweet.

"And I have no doubt that everything points to the right, to the Venezuelan ultra-right, in alliance with the Colombian ultra-right, and that the name of Juan Manuel Santos is behind this attack", said Maduro in a television address to the nation.

The group says that while it was not successful at first, it's just a matter of time before it is. "I'm sure I'll live for many more years".
