Trump Threatens Government Shutdown Over Border Wall Funding

President Trump said Monday that he wouldn't flinch from shutting down the government over border wall funding, saying the years of talk about border security have gotten nowhere.

"I would be willing to "shut down" the government if the Democrats do not give us the votes for Border Security, which includes the Wall!"

Trump stuck to broad strokes as he warned he is willing to shut down the government if Congress does not take action, saying he would "always leave room for negotiation" and offering no specific funding threshold or legislative marker.

"Trump's border wall does nothing to promote San Diego's robust economy and our positive worldwide ties with Mexico", Council President Pro Tem Barbara Bry, a Democrat, said in a statement.

Trump's latest shutdown threat comes after a tweet earlier Tuesday in which he seized on news reports of a higher murder rate in Mexico than previously reported to bolster his demands for border wall funding and other immigration measures. Trump has reignited his fight with Congress over funding for a Southern border wall with Mexico. Must get rid of Lottery, Catch & Release etc. and finally go to system of Immigration based on MERIT!

Sunday's shutdown threat from Trump also echoed a remark he made in February when he said "I'd love to see a shutdown" if the government did not agree to address immigration.

Paul Manafort Earned $60 Million as a Consultant in Ukraine, Says Mueller
Trump reacted to Manafort's jailing in June by describing it as "very unfair". "Didn't know Manafort was the head of the Mob". The charges largely predate the five months Mr Manafort worked on the Trump team in 2016, some of them as campaign chairman.

Trump's shutdown threat on Sunday was part of a flurry of tweets in which he attacked favourite targets like the "Robert Mueller Rigged Witch Hunt" ("an illegal Scam!") and the news media ("driven insane by their Trump Derangement Syndrome").

The AP reported last month that children held at an immigration detention facility in Roanoke, Virginia, said they were beaten while handcuffed, locked in solitary confinement and left nude and cold in concrete cells.

Trump said the two countries, through a "new strategic dialogue", would continue to boost joint security efforts in the Mediterranean and North Africa and would focus on "the urgent need to protect our nations from terrorism and uncontrolled migration". "It's time we had proper border security".

Mr. Trump discussed the budget standoff last week in an Oval Office meeting with top aides and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R., Wis). "Even worse are the stories we heard about that bad separations and the bad conditions in which they were held".

Trump is noting that Italian voters got "tired" of their country's immigration policies.

The potential shutdown is creating anxieties among Republicans who are hoping to maintain control of Congress in the fall midterm elections.

David Luiz wants to stay at Chelsea
We play high, with a lot of possession of the ball, in a technical way. On Sarri's philosophy, Luiz claimed, "I love this philosophy". We're doing that every single day.

After the meeting, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told a radio interviewer that a shutdown so close to the November 6 midterm elections won't happen.

Funding for the government runs out at the end of September. We have to end these disgusting catch and release principles where you catch somebody and you take their name and then you release them. McConnell canceled most of the Senate's recess to give senators time to work on the annual spending bills that fund government operations.

Spending bills have appropriated funds to replace existing walls or barriers, something Trump has tried to promote to his supporters as signs of progress.

But in June moderate members of the party in the US House of Representatives helped sink an immigration bill that was proposed by their conservative colleagues and backed by Mr Trump.

Ohio Rep. Steve Stivers, the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, said on ABC's "This Week" said he did not think it would come to a shutdown.

Democrats not only want better documentation of the separation and reunification processes, there is also a push to conduct special investigations on the Departments of Justice, Homeland Security and Health and Human Services.

Firefighters gain ground on California wildfire
A firefighter identified as Brian Hughes died on Sunday while battling the Ferguson Fire , which is near Yosemite National Park. The blaze has destroyed at least 536 structures, damaged another 117 and was threatening almost 5,000 others, officials said.

"Trump seized on the praise, tweeting Monday that "a highly respected Federal judge" had said that the "'Trump Administration gets great credit' for reuniting illegal families.
