Following the press conference, Netanyahu released a statement thanking the two leaders for their commitment to Israel's security and stating that he "very much appreciates the security coordination between Israel and Russian Federation and the clear position expressed by President Putin regarding the need to uphold the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement between Israel and Syria".

But several Republicans who do not typically buck the President raised concerns, shocked by Monday's performance.

Democrats pleaded with their GOP colleagues who have majority control of Congress to rein in the President and become a stronger legislative check on the executive branch.
