Tesla's cars will in August suddenly activate "full self-driving features", the company's chief executive Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday, three days after federal investigators said a Tesla SUV driving semi-autonomously had accelerated over 70 miles per hour and smashed into a highway barrier.
The Tesla had been following a lead vehicle and travelling at the speed limit (of 65mph) eight seconds before the crash, the report said, taking advantage of the "Autopilot" system that allows drivers to follow the behaviour of a lead vehicle while maintaining a fixed distance from it.
Could the planned Tesla Roadster use rockets to improve its performance as Musk tweeted
The news, announced in a Musk tweet late Monday, comes at a time when earlier versions of the semi-autonomous Autopilot system have come under intense scrutiny.
Tesla argued it had dropped out of the investigation, contending that restrictions on disclosures about the crash could jeopardize public safety by preventing the timely release of information about Autopilot to consumers.
It's unclear whether the Roadster's top speed was achieved using the so-called Space X option, or whether the rocket-assisted version of the vehicle will be even faster.
Rafael Nadal Insists Passing Roger Federer's 20 Slams Not On Agenda
The score may have looked rather routine but there was some drama in the third set when Nadal called for the trainer at 2-1, 30-0. Nadal came in looking slightly more vulnerable than he did past year , in which he lost only 35 games in claiming the title.
In May, Tesla settled a class action lawsuit from owners who had paid $5,000 for Autopilot but claimed that the automatic emergency braking and side-collision warning didn't function.
Tesla repeatedly tells drivers to keep their hands on the wheel while Autopilot is engaged-the auto warns anyone who doesn't, disabling the feature and even stopping the vehicle should the alerts be ignored.
The arrival of "full self-driving" features doesn't mean that Tesla cars will offer a complete autonomous driving experience.

The Article from Tesla's Next Roadster Will Feature Actual SpaceX Rocket Thrusters-Elon Musk . They cannot only enhance the acceleration but also change the nature of the high-performance vehicle.
As per the vehicle's programming, the Tesla provided two visual alerts and one auditory alert for the driver to place his hands on the steering wheel prior to the crash. A Tesla representative told the publication that SpaceX and Tesla "are occasionally able to share ideas that help the other".
"Inevitably, somebody's not going to service their vehicle properly and they're going to drop a hubcap and it's going to guillotine somebody", Musk recently said at an event discussing his Boring Company's plans to build car-carrying tunnels under Los Angeles and other cities.
Kim impersonators meet fans ahead of summit
Singapore will spend about 20 million dollars to host the historic summit between Trump and Kim, Prime Minister Loong revealed. The summit has fueled hopes in South Korea that the two leaders may weigh a formal declaration to end the Korean War.
"Not saying the next gen Roadster special upgrade package *will* definitely enable it to fly short hops, but maybe...", Musk later added.
