Rome: Rafael Nadal powered his way into the third round of the Italian Open on Wednesday with a straight sets win over Bosnian Damir Dzumhur.

Former world number one Novak Djokovic is also in the quarter-finals for the first time this year. Nadal would go on to win the set 6-1after a rallying sixth game where Dzhumhur finally got into trouble the score-sheet by the skin of his teeth.However, the rallying game had made Nadal more ruthless in the second set as he won it 6-0 to clinch the match in just 61 minutes.

Fifth seed Juan Martin del Potro emerged a 7-5, 6-3 victor over Barcelona runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas and Miami Open champion John Isner was edged 7-6 (5), 6-7 (2), 6-7 (5) by Albert Ramos-Vinolas.
