The announcement comes with three games remaining in the season.

The 37-year-old Sedins have been with the Canucks for 18 seasons but say it's now time to turn their attention to their families and "life after hockey".

"Game 7, Stanley Cup final, you want to pull that off", Henrik Sedin said. "We also want to share these games with our families, friends, teammates, coaches, trainers, staff and everyone at the Canucks who have supported us", the Sedins said.

Even in their retirement announcement, they showed their dedication to their families. They played basically the same number of games, with Henrik edging Daniel by just 24 games. They played as brothers for the same team from the moment they were drafted, stayed together for 18 years and will retire together. The Canucks lost to the Bruins in seven games. Two players who did everything right when it came to representing the game, playing with integrity, and providing exciting moments for fans, there were few players as well liked and respected. The team is now one of the league's worst, and has been for the past few years.

To ensure they picked the Sedins and brought them to the stage at the same time, the Canucks flipped the first pick to Atlanta for the second choice. The fact that the Sedins spent time on the same roster as Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser (and, at least for a game or two, Thatcher Demko) was great for the youngsters and with more reinforcements coming, the Canucks will rise in the future. "Travis is building a strong culture and emphasizes a style of play we know will be successful". On the bright side, the Canucks will now enter a transition period with $14 million in additional cap space, which could prove to be the twins' final assist for the organization.
