Officials with the San Diego Padres announced Friday that pitcher Luis Perdomo received a a five-game suspension for his role in Wednesday's bench-clearing brawl during a game against the Colorado Rockies. Perdomo threw his glove at Arenado and backed off as Arenado chased after him like a pass rusher chasing a quarterback.

The scrum began in the bottom of the third inning when Padres starting pitcher Luis Perdomo threw a 96-mph pitch that almost hit Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado in the back.

MAA lifts ban on Sri Reddy
Continuing with her tirade against Tollywood, actress Sri Reddy has now accused director Kona Venkat of sexually exploiting her. She had stripped down in front of the Movie Artistes' Association as a form of protest for not providing her membership.

The brawl was the culmination of bad blood between the two teams that had drawn out over two days: The Rockies hit and injured Padres outfield Manuel Margot on Tuesday night.

Frustration from three hit batsman in the previous two games of the series resulted in Wednesday's actions.

That set the stage for Arenado, who didn't take kindly to a pitch that almost grazed his back. Padres catcher A.J. Arenado kept trying to punch the pitcher as the benches cleared and the relievers sprinted in from the bullpen. He kept backing away while keeping an eye on the fuming All-Star.

Both Arenado and Parra are appealing their suspensions, per Nick Groke of The Athletic (via Twitter).

Arenado finished his day 0-for-1 with a strikeout.

Cordero atoned with a solo homer as part of San Diego's three-run the sixth. Wade Davis pitched a flawless ninth for his fifth save as the Rockies finished the homestand 2-4..
