Gold Coast: Indian weightlifters remained a cut above the rest with Punam Yadav (69kg) adding a fifth gold medal and Vikas Thakur (94kg) picking up a bronze in what has been a truly remarkable campaign so far at the Gold Coast.
Vikas, on the other hand, lifted a combined total of 351 kg (159 kg in snatch and 192 kg in clean and jerk) to win his second medal after winning silver in Glasgow in the men's 85 kg category.
England's Sarah Davies took silver with 217 kg, while Apolonia Vaivai of Fiji lifted 216 kg for the bronze.
However, she recovered to lift 122 kg in her third attempt and Vavai's failure at that same weight put the Indian in the leading position for the gold.
