Jordan Henderson predicts AS Roma v Liverpool FC second leg

Liverpool v Roma – story of the match

Champions League: Ian Wright speaks on Salah winning Ballon d'Or ahead of Messi, Ronaldo

Georginio Wijnaldum has warned his Liverpool teammates against writing off Roma, who will aim to repeat their remarkable victory over Barcelona when the two sides meet in the Uefa Champions League semi-final, second leg next week.

The Brazilian's desire to leave the Catalan giants was tied to his ambition to beat Messi and Ronaldo to the Ballon d'Or by stepping out of Messi's shadow. Roma's three center-backs were hopeless against the runs of Salah and Mane in open space, as so many had predicted before the game, and then again when the lineups came out.

Speaking to BT Sport after Tuesday night's win, Henderson said: "I think we'll obviously be disappointed with the two goals because it felt as though we were in full control and we basically gave them two goals, [which] you can't really do at Champions League [level]. But without a shadow of a doubt, he's the best player on the planet right now".

Salah wreaked more havoc five minutes later when he sped past the helpless Jesus and pulled the ball across goal for Firmino to tap home.

Liverpool won the match 5-2 and are well placed to reach their first final for European football's top annual competition in 11 years.

But should he not even add to his scoring tally in the remainder of this season, the Egyptian's claim to being the best player in the world on current form is already a strong one.

"He is in outstandingly good shape, in world-class shape, 100 percent".

"However, a minority of fans from both Liverpool and Roma were involved in isolated pockets of disorder in the city centre and near to the ground".

Two men aged 20 and 29 were arrested in Liverpool for attempted murder, and several others detained for other clashes between fans, that left 53 year old Liverpool fan Sean Cox in hospital in a critical condition.

"There is no place for this type of vile behaviour in football and the club is now cooperating with Liverpool Football Club, UEFA and the authorities".

Last night, an Irishman named locally as Sean Cox, 53, was left in a critical condition following an assault by Roma supporters outside of the Albert Pub beside Anfield.

Liverpool, who ran out 5-2 winners in Tuesday's first leg, said they had contacted the emergency services and would also offer any support they could to the hospitalized fan and his family.

Princess Charlotte's floral smocked dress sells out after Lindo appearance
They were driven home by staff for tea at Kensington Palace, while they waited for their mother and father to rejoin them. Although she has been seen in public on barely a handful of occasions, cheeky Charlotte appears to be a born performer.
