The New York Times reported on Sunday that lawyers Joe diGenova, who is known for his aggressive style and was supposed to replace Trump's top attorney, and diGenova's wife, Victoria Toensing, would not be joining the legal team because of unspecified "conflicts".

According to The Post, some law firms have said that they "do not want the controversy of representing a divisive and unpopular president" while others have claimed that they have existing clients presenting conflicts of interest should they also take on Trump as a client. But an official close to Trump's team said the president's lawyers couldn't get past the potential problems posed by the firm's work on behalf of Corallo and Sam Clovis, a Trump campaign aide who also has spoken with Mueller's team.

More broadly, Trump at this time now appears unlikely to try to bring in another outside lawyer, and the departure of Dowd essentially leaves Sekulow charting the legal strategy.

A former federal prosecutor, Joseph DiGenova, and his wife, Victoria Toensing, agreed last week to help represent the US leader. Dowd had taken over the lead lawyer role last summer from NY attorney Marc Kasowitz, who has always been by Trump's side.

On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump declared that a search to find a lawyer to replace John Dowd would not be an issue and that law firms would line up to take the case.

Trump's attorneys, including Dowd, have been negotiating with Mueller over the scope and terms of an interview with Trump.

"Many lawyers and top law firms want to represent me in the Russian Federation case...don't believe the Fake News narrative that it is hard to find a lawyer who wants to take this on".

National Association of Manufacturers President Jay Timmons, in a statement responding to the tariffs last Thursday, said the tariffs "are likely to create new challenges in the form of significant added costs for manufacturers and American consumers".

"Fame & fortune will never be turned down by a lawyer, though some are conflicted", Mr. Trump said in a tweet.

Trump's lead lawyer, John Dowd, resigned last week and former USA attorney Joseph diGenova joined the Trump team.

Trump wants to talk to Mueller, but his lawyers have advised against it.

Corrallo resigned from his spokesman's job in July, soon after the president helped draft a misleading statement about a meeting his eldest son held at Trump Tower in June 2016 with a Russian lawyer offering "dirt" on Hillary Clinton.

Robert Mueller may be wrapping up his obstruction of justice case into Trump.

But they strongly urged caution on the president's part in the event that he faces off against some of the country's most skilled prosecutors. Sekulow did not detail what those other matters might be.

Trump's confrontational persona and mounting frustration about the investigation - as well as his view that Mueller and the FBI are undermining him - have prompted him to lash out at the special counsel in recent days.
