Michael Crabtree has signed with the Ravens after being released by the Raiders on March 16, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Crabtree signed a $21 million deal.

Despite Crabtree's steady production, the Raiders cut him Thursday and cleared his $7.7 million cap hit off the books in order to sign Jordy Nelson.

Crabtree toured the Ravens' complex Friday morning and signed in the late afternoon.

Newsome had said at the Scouting Combine that the Ravens were looking to "change that (wide receivers) room in terms of personnel", and Brown, who topped 1,000 yards for the Arizona Cardinals in 2015, is the first significant addition in that quest.

If Crabtree can produce significant dividends in 2018, then the Ravens' strategy will pay off in Ozzie Newsome's final year as Baltimore's general manager.

The Ravens chose to part ways with wide receiver Jeremy Maclin a few days ago and don't seem intent on re-signing veteran free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace, either.

A former first-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers, Crabtree has 579 catches for 6,870 yards and 51 touchdowns in 125 games (122 starts) across nine National Football League seasons.

Crabtree has produced at least eight receiving touchdowns in a season four times, including in each of the past three years (nine - 2015, eight - 2016 & eight - 2017).

In five career games against the Ravens, Crabtree has 33 catches for 444 yards and six touchdowns. The No. 10 overall pick of the 2009 draft, Crabtree has the 10th-most catches (579) since he entered the league. He just spent three seasons in Oakland, averaging 848 yards and eight touchdowns per season.

Baltimore was rumored to be interested in several top free-agent wideouts earlier in the week, but bigger names such as Allen Robinson and Donte Moncrief signed elsewhere.
