If Florida lawmakers have their way, the Sunshine State will spring forward and remain there year round. The "Sunshine Protection Act" is now on it's way Governor Rick Scott for consideration.

However, any state (or groups of states) would need Congressional approval in order to be exempted from a more than 50 year old law which set a uniform time for all time zones across the country. After the war, most states switched to observing DST in summer months, but there was no federal law on daylight saving time until 1966. They will have the correct time when you awaken Sunday morning. Florida needs permission from Congress to secede from the union of time-shifters. Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa also skip out on the clock-changing fun.

The twice-a-year tradition of changing time - springing forward and falling backward - is back again, despite some Texas lawmakers' efforts to end it.
