Bangladesh Defeat Sri Lanka To Reach The Final Of Nidahas Trophy, Destroy Dressing Room In Aftermath

Shakibal Hasan apologises for overboard celebrations

The Twenty20 global (T20I) cricket match of the Nidahas Trophy between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on Friday was marred by some unpleasant actions at the ground.

In the virtual semi-final last night, Bangladesh defeated hosts Sri Lanka by two wickets.

Choosing to bowl first, Bangladesh got their first breakthrough in the third over of the match as Sri Lanka opener Danushka Gunathilaka was caught by Sabbir Rahman at long-on off the bowling of captain Shakib Al Hasan, who was making his comeback from a finger injury, for four runs. Rohit Sharma's side have dominated with both bat and ball and have been comfortable even while chasing and defending.

Shakib said at the end of the match "The square leg umpire had signalled it a no-ball and then upon discussions, changed the call, which I don't think is the right decision,". The Bangladesh skipper, who has been a regular feature of the Indian Premier League, also feels that technology has allowed teams to work out every aspect of the opposition in a detailed manner.

Trump re-affirms plan to meet Kim Jong Un
Its diplomatic mission in Pyongyang, which opened in 1975, was the first Western embassy established in the country. Officials of South Korea are preparing for a possible summit with the North, probably next month.

Talking about the tournament so far, he said, "This tournament has been good, where everyone till number six has been tested so far, and I think we have done a fair job till now".

Talking about the semifinal, Shakib said: "You can't expect more than that in a T20 game".

Bangladesh were, however, on top initially with their bowlers, led by Mustafizur Rahman (2/39), creating havoc on the home side top-order batsmen.

And Mahmudullah completed the chase in emphatic fashion, with a boundary through the covers, two runs from a shot to deep midwicket, and finally a six from what appeared to be a mere flick. But if we lose it's like: 'Dude, you've lost to Bangladesh.

Death of Russian Nikolai Glushkov being treated as murder
Counter-terrorism police are investigating the death of Mr Glushkov, who was found at his home in south-west London on Monday. In 2000, he was arrested over the embezzlement of Aeroflot's funds, and later charged with fraud and money laundering.

Later, Bangladesh substitute fielders also got into the action with Sri Lankan captain Thisara Perera. I need to remain calm. All the time taking climax happened in the final over, with Sri Lanka requiring 12 runs to win. I was overjoyed. Excitement was there. "I'm not sure how many people are going to turn up - I genuinely wish they turn up in good numbers". I must know how to react next time. "I will be careful", he added.

"We always have healthy competition in the ground, but outside, we are friends". Manish Pandey may not be as experienced as Mahmudullah in global cricket but Pandey's 10 years of IPL cricket holds him in good stead.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, reached the final with a thrilling win over the hosts. We understand that the events may have transpired due to the importance of the match and the pressure that comes with it but feel that the expected level of professionalism was not exhibited by the team while dealing with a tense situation in the game.
