Super Mario Odyssey Has Sold A Ridiculous Amount Of Copies Already

Consoles power up Nintendo like nothing else

Nintendo Switch sales have already surpassed the Wii U with 14.86 million

It's official. After launching in March and being available to consumers for just under ten months, the Nintendo Switch has officially surpassed the Wii U in total sales. In less than a year.

The Switch has already outsold Nintendo's previous console, the Wii U, which originally launched in November 2012. Nintendo Switch was one of the most desired products of Christmas 2017 and the sales prospects for the current year seem to be decidedly positive. "Super Mario Odyssey", the newest entry in the franchise starring the company's mascot, sold 9.07 million copies between its October release and the end of December. It sold 5.2 million units in other markets.

There is no better place to verify Nintendo's incredible comeback than the company's own financial report for Q3, fiscal year 2018.

Orcas Can Say 'Hello', 'Bye-Bye' and 'One-Two-Three'
Wikie was taught several human words and phrases, including "ah-ah", "hello", "bye-bye", " Amy " and " one, two, three ". The scientist who led the study said it was conceivable that basic "conversations" with her may one day be possible.

To put this in perspective, Wii U sold 13.5m units in five years. One final note: on the upcoming games list, Nintendo has the Pokémon Switch game slated for "2018 or later". It is expected Switch sales could be able to reach 20 million this year.

Operating profit in the December quarter came in at 116.5 billion yen, based on figures derived from reported nine-month results. You can also use the offer to pick up some new games. The Switch hasn't even been available for a year - it's only ten months old and has nearly 15 million in sales.

"The momentum for Switch over the last 10 months has been stronger than that of the Wii", Tatsumi Kimishima, the president of Nintendo, said in an earnings call.

Kevin Love (broken left hand) out for the game, likely much longer
Love converted eight of his 14 attempts from the field (.571) and four of his six looks from three-point range against Detroit. Also, Lue said Tuesday he planned to continue starting Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love together "for right now".

The leap is especially surprising considering the Switch doesn't even have a Virtual Console yet. A chart from Statista reveals that though only a few developers are now working on the relatively new console, it is only behind Windows PC and PS4 when it comes to attracting developer interest.

At the same conference, Kimishima also stated that Nintendo expects to sell almost three million units in the current quarter, and is targeting 20 million for fiscal 2018, starting April 1, 2018.
