And on Saturday, we saw why.

The participants in the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest used wardrobe changes and the art of imitation throughout their performances.

That list of dunkers included: Cavs forward Larry Nance Jr, Pacers guard Victor Oladipo, Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell and Mavericks guard Dennis Smith Jr.

In the first round, Mitchell brought out a another basket to complete the set up of his first dunk.

"Yeah Dr. J held back, he held back", Nance Jr. said with a grin.

Personal details on the application included her gender and put her occupation as unemployed and her age at 21, in dog years. The hard-fought coalition deal struck with Social Democrats must still be approved by the SPD's 460,000 members.

"I wanted this so badly, man", Mitchell said.

Mitchell was not even supposed to be in the slam dunk contest as he was only placed into the event two weeks ago after Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon was reported to be suffering from a hip injury.

Nance Sr, and Nance Jr.

In the first round, Nance, the son of the inaugural slam dunk champion, showed a touch of showmanship with a nod to his past.

It might come as no surprise to find out that while he was in high school, Donovan Jr. played both basketball and baseball. though he'd make the decision to focus on basketball, something that seems to be working out just fine these days. He tossed a ball off of the backboard on a hoop to his right before catching it in the air and throwing it through the rim on another hoop.

TL;DR: Nervy New Zealand qualify for final despite loss
Morgan and Malan put on 93 for the third wicket in an England innings otherwise punctuated by the fall of regular wickets. Both of England's openers fell early as Alex Hales and Jason Roy fell to slower balls from Tim Southee and Trent Boult.

Mitchell won the glamour event during All-Star Saturday night by wearing a Vince Carter throwback jersey and executing a reverse, spinning 360-degree windmill dunk. He borrowed a Black Panther mask from actor Chadwick Boseman during the contest.

It follows the Skills Competition and the 3-Point Contest. Last year, Gordon won it by scoring 21 of a possible 34 points while Thompson tied teammate Stephen Curry's record of 27 the year before. The final ball of each rack was a "money ball" worth two points, and one of the racks was all money balls.

The pair will be joined by Bradley Beal (Wizards), Paul George (Thunder), Devin Booker (Suns), Kyle Lowry (Raptors), Tobias Harris (Clippers) and Wayne Ellington (Heat).

Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie claimed the Skills Challenge title.

Eight players started the competition, and Dinwiddie and Markkanen advanced to the final.
