Saudi-led coalition issued a statement Sunday that a warplane from Saudi Arabia's air forces fighting the Houthi movement in Yemen crashed due to a technical fault while conducting military operations.

Colonel Turki Al-Malki, Spokesman of the Joint Coalition Forces, disclosed that a Saudi Royal Air Force fighter jet was exposed to a technical failure after implementing one of the operational tasks to support legitimacy in Yemen, which resulted in its crash inside the operation area with no injuries to the aircraft's crew.

A statement by the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said the pilots were not injured and were evacuated to Saudi Arabia by ground and air forces.

The Saudi-led coalition began its military campaign in Yemen almost three years ago in an attempt to propel ousted President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi back to power and to prevent Houthi rebels from taking control of the country.
