Also Nvidia commented that it embedded its artificial intelligence technology into the Volkswagen's "future line" by using its new Drive IX platform.

"In the future, every vehicle will be self driving", Huang said.

A year after unveiling the Xavier autonomous machine intelligence processors, Nvidia has now started shipping the Xavier processors to customers this quarter. "Hopefully we'll deliver the bus...it's a totally new platform [with] the hardware but the software and the components for autonomous driving".

Man 'smearing feces' redirects flight to Alaska
A cleaning crew was able to decontaminate the entire craft but the delay forced other passengers to remain in Alaska overnight. According to the airline, the passenger cooperated with the fight crew and was interviewed by authorities upon landing.

"Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the auto", said Volkswagen CEO Dr. Herbert Diess. It's 15 times more energy efficient than our previous generation architecture, says Danny Shapiro, senior director-Automotive at NVIDIA. NVIDIA has confirmed a new partnership with ride-hailing service Uber and auto giant Volkswagen to further the development of self-driving vehicle technology.

Xavier's specs include 9 billion transistors, a custom version of the company's powerful Volta GPU, and a whole bunch of other complex numbers that make Xavier the biggest chip of its kind.

Diess added, "Autonomous driving, zero-emission mobility and digital networking are virtually impossible without advances in AI and deep learning".

"Xavier is a key part of the Nvidia Pegasus AI computing platform". The chip maker, which has already partnered with the industry through companies such as Tesla and Chinese Baidu, is stepping up its efforts to develop self-driving technology.

The first and arguably most notable involves Uber Technologies Inc., which in November ordered 24,000 sport utility vehicles that will form the backbone of a new autonomous shuttle fleet. Platforms such as Drive IX and Drive AR, an augmented reality system, work using Xavier. "We've been working with NVIDIA on developing on-vehicle chips for autonomous driving, which aims to accelerate the pace of mass production of autonomous vehicles". Drive IX analyses the automotive sensor data from within and outside the vehicle and provides the driver and passengers with its AI assistant technology that is able to recognize their face, voice and body gestures.
