The report covers every information request from across the world over the first half of the year - apart from those subject to national security delays. The US alone accounted for 41 percent of data requests, followed by India, the UK, Germany and France with 12 percent, 9 percent, 7 percent and 6 percent respectively.

Over 57% of the account data requests came with a non-disclosure order.

The social media company also said Facebook Facebook restricted access to 1,228 pieces of content after requests from law enforcement agencies and the India Computer Emergency Response Team within the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

"We continue to carefully scrutinise each request we receive for account data - whether from an authority in the US, Europe, or elsewhere - to make sure it is legally sufficient".

Coming to the copyrights, there were more than 200,000 copyright requests made related to Facebook content. Action was taken on 68% of those.

The details of the latest 'Government Requests Report' was published by Facebook on Monday.

Worldwide requests for Facebook user data now significantly outnumber those received by Google, which recorded 48,941 requests concerning 83,345 accounts in first half of 2017. "If a request appears to be deficient or overly broad, we push back, and will fight in court, if necessary", Facebook's Deputy General Counsel Chris Sonderby said in a blog post.

There was an increase of 304% globally on the number of content restrictions, from 6,944 to 28,036.

It was also 6 cents cheaper than the national average but notably more than Georgia's $2.29 average and Tennessee's average of $2.22.

The report also points out the internet disruption of Pakistan which occurred only once in the first half of 2017, which affected Facebook products and services in Pakistan. To access more basic information, such as names and email addresses, only a valid subpoena in connection with an official investigation is required.

Fake cases against Instagram content rose relentlessly in the primary portion of 2017, with June's grievance number (2,191 reports) higher than the quantity of protestations petitioned for Facebook in April and near different months.

Facebook removed 1,818,794 posts due to copyright infringement from the site in that period, and 685,996 posts from Instagram because of copyright infringement. On Instagram, the company removed 10,094 posts following 10,231 counterfeit claims.
