PadMan is influenced by the real story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who went against everyone and brought a revolution in the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by making a low-priced sanitary napkin machine. We soon meet Akshay Kumar's character Lakshmikanth, whose initiative to manufacture cost-effective sanitary napkins results in him delivering a speech on menstrual hygiene at the UN Headquarters. He plays a simpleton who loves his wife and the women in his life and wants to bring a healthy change in their lives. Akshay has a way of imparting significant and the important messages through engaging films.
