Frisina, 17, was believed to be headed north with Rian Rodriguez, 27, a boy's soccer coach at the Florida high school where Frisina is a student.

The 17-year-old was located safe in central NY on Friday. It's believed she left voluntarily with him, authorities said earlier.

According to Murray Smith, the public relations officer for the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the police believed that there was the "blossoming of a potential relationship", between Frisina and Rodriguez, ABC News reported.

Rodriguez is now being held in a NY jail and faces a charge of interfering with the custody of a minor.

Frisina took $200 out of an ATM in St. Marys, Georgia, on Sunday morning, and was later that day seen with Rodriguez on surveillance video at a Pilot gas station in St. George, Georgia, Sheriff Mark Hunter said Wednesday. "We are emotionally drained, but we are absolutely elated to have her safe". The FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office have been advised of this case and will consider federal charges in Florida.

During interviews with news media reporters, the girl's parents had pleaded for her to return home. Frisina told police that she left with Rian willingly and she was unharmed. The teen's phone - which had been completely erased - was left behind, authorities said.

Rodriguez and the teen had been around each other "at sports events, but they've never been alone at all", Smith said.
