Target Fidget Spinners Need to Get the Lead Out, PIRG Says

But after testing several models, US Public Interest Research Group Education Fund (PIRG) is accusing Target of selling two models that contain "extremely high levels of lead". The Fidget Wild Spinner Premium Brass is also being sold on Target's website.

Business Insider says that the legal limit for lead in a children's toy is 100 parts per million.

The group said lab results showed the Fidget Wild Premium Spinner Brass had 33,000 parts per million of lead.

The popular little toys are already the subject of Consumer Product Safety Commission choking hazard warnings.

U.S. PIRG said it sent representatives to five Target stores around the country who found the spinners being sold in the toy department.

Fidget spinners are still all the rage among the young crowd. Below that, it says the manufacturer categorizes the toy as being for ages "6 years and up".

Target declined to remove the products. "The CPSC, Target and Bulls i Toy need to acknowledge the obvious - that all fidget spinners are toys".
