West Indies to play 3-match T20 series in Pakistan, confirms Sethi

Since the attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009 global cricket in Pakistan was suspended but recently a limited over series with Zimbabwe, the Pakistan Super League final, Twenty20 series with a World XI were all held in Lahore.

The last worldwide match played at National Stadium was the first Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka during the 2009 series, following which there was an armed attack on the Sri Lankan team bus, the incident that led to Pakistan being shunned by visiting teams.

Instead, a five-year contract has been signed with the West Indies cricket board.

Confirming the news, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi said that it has signed an agreement with Cricket West Indies (CWI) under which the two sides would play a T20I series each year in Pakistan and in U.S. for the next five years.

Sethi also confirmed that both PCB and the West Indies Cricket Board have signed a mutual agreement to play each other in Pakistan and in United States of America on regular basis for the next five years.

The tour was slated to take place in November this year, but it had to be rescheduled for next year.
