Florida Football Rumors: Dan Mullen Targeted By Gators

Florida expected to hire Dan Mullen

Dan Mullen has been the catalyst of that success and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.

It won't be the sexiest hire of this weekend-you can decide for yourself whether that honor should go to Chip Kelly at UCLA or Greg Schiano at Tennessee-but the Florida Gators are reportedly finalizing a deal to hire Dan Mullen away from Mississippi State, to replace the fired Jim McElwain.

Some might be concerned about whether Mullen has the ideal personality to bring genuine buzz to Florida football, but should Gator fans really care as long as he fixes the offense? Stricklin noted the 45-year-old coach's success in tutoring quarterbacks such as Alex Smith, Chris Leak, Tim Tebow, Dak Prescott and Nick Fitzgerald, which bodes well for his chances of coaxing better play from Gators signal-callers.

It was a dominating performance by Tzu-Ying who displayed why she is the top-ranked player in the women's game now . Sindhu will be eyeing her third Superseries title after wins in the India Open in New Delhi and in South Korea.

If Mullen is able to recreate what he has done so well at Florida, with the Gator's superior prestige and rich history, they have a real shot at competing with Kirby Smart's Bulldogs for the SEC East crown. Mullen coached the Bulldogs to a 69 and 46 record over eight seasons.

Mullen previously spent four years (2005-08) as Florida's offensive coordinator and won two national championships while guiding Tebow to the top of the school record books. Mississippi State also was the No. 1 team in the inaugural College Football Playoff rankings.

No doubt, Florida fans will have a mixed reaction with Mullen.
