In a tweet today, the official Doctor Who twitter account blasted out a photo of Jodie Whittaker in character with the message "New series".

Whittaker is seen in a high-waisted pair of teal pants, with a striped sweater and a long trench coat in a photo released on Twitter.

Whittaker will make her first appearance on the Christmas special of DOCTOR WHO on BBC One. Sure, Jodie Whittaker might have been cast as Doctor Who's groundbreaking new Doctor months ago, but does a Time Lord truly arrive until they're dressed for the occasion? Plus, the vivid lines on the Doctor's t-shirt, coupled with her bright blue trousers also recall the Sixth Doctor's - ahem - rather colorful ensemble.

Some quick background information: William Hartnell was the first man to play The Doctor when the series premiered in 1963. In-story, the Doctor has the ability to regenerate after being killed, coming back with a new body.

I also love that she's got so many other hints of previous incarnations in this outfit.
