Authorities said five people have been killed, including the gunman, and multiple others injured after a shooting rampage that started at a home and ended at an elementary school in rural Northern California.

Five people have been killed - including the suspect - in a mass shooting at a school some 15 miles southwest of Red Bluff, where at least another 10 people have been hospitalized, some of them children.

The shooter had a semi-automatic rifle and two handguns. "Multiple students" have been airlifted from the scene according to Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston, including a 6-year-old. "This guy has been insane, and he's been threatening us and everything". One student was shot at an elementary school and second child was shot in a truck.
