This 4G feature phone will be available starting from October 20.

State-owned telecom operator BSNL has launched its first-ever 4G VoLTE feature phone in association with Micromax. Unlike the Jio Phone though, the Bharat-1 is not locked to a particular network. The phone packs a 2,000 mAh battery along with a 2.4-inch QVGA display. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 chipset with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. The phone comes preloaded with "Micromax Entertainment" app which offers Live TV, music, movies and videos. As we mentioned above, the phone also comes pre-loaded with Micromax entertainment apps, BHIM UPI payments app and BSNL's wallet app for digital payment. If you do not want to use BSNL, you are also free to use the phone with any other telecom operator. Reliance Jio's effectively free offering of low-priced 4G enabled VoLTE handset has triggered a new form of handset revolution in the Indian telecom sector, and now BSNL is the latest contender in this new-age telecom war. Connectivity features including 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, USB 2.0. The feature phone also supports 22 different languages.

Bharti Airtel, the entity with the largest market share, has announced a bundling partnership with another local handset maker, Karbonn, for a smartphone offer with an "effective price" of Rs 1,399. "This will connect the unconnected masses in rural area at very affordable rate", BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Shrivastava said, while announcing the agreement with Micromax. With this partnership, BSNL and Micromax are aiming to target more than 500 million population that is still internet unconnected. "We will now take this vision forward with Bharat 1 and create a compelling proposition for the users that is a first in the category".
