The website of the US Geological Survey said a first tremor of 6.3 magnitudes had a depth of 23 kilometres, an alert that came after Pyongyang said it has developed a more advanced nuclear weapon - a hydrogen bomb that could be loaded into the country's new intercontinental ballistic missiles, that has "great destructive power".

It "clearly proved" that the North's nuclear weapons had a "highly precise basis", she said, wearing a pink and black traditional dress, known as hanbok in the South and choson chogori in the North, adorned with a badge of Kim Il-Sung and his son and successor Kim Jong-Il.

The president also tweeted that North Korea's words and actions "continue to be very hostile and dangerous" to the United States.

South Korea's National Security Director Chung Eui Yong said Sunday that President Moon Jae In will seek every available diplomatic measure, including new sanctions from the U.N. Security Council.

The South's Yonhap news agency, citing the state weather agency, had previously reported that the quake was 9.8 times more powerful than the tremor from Pyongyang's fifth test.

US President Donald Trump has labelled North Korea "an embarrassment".

In a third Sunday morning tweet, the president wrote, "South Korea is finding, as I have told them, that their talk of appeasement with North Korea will not work, they only understand one thing!"

The above-mentioned Panchsheel treaty was former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru-proposed agreement between India and China. Modi also said India would work with fellow BRICS allies to curb black money and corruption, a stated goal of Xi Jinping.

"China and Russian Federation have both been clear that while they're displeased and alarmed by the North's weapons' development, they also think it's foolish for the US and South Korea to pursue more military exercises".

Trump's threat came after Pyongyang detonated what it claimed was a hydrogen bomb able to fit atop a missile.

It claimed the device could be mounted on its newly developed intercontinental ballistic missiles, which experts have said are capable of reaching the U.S. mainland.

Could this be North Korea's last nuclear test?

The state media reports stressed that the bomb was made with domestic parts and workmanship, suggesting that more could be made without outside experts or imports.

It is bound to increase the tension hours after United States President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe talked by phone about the "escalating" nuclear crisis. "Russia does not have real influence on North Korea".

"They want all parties to calm down, but it's clear the North is not interested in that, and it's not entirely [certain] if the United States is interested in calming the situation either". The North followed its two tests of Hwasong-14 ICBMs by threatening in August to launch a salvo of its Hwasong-12 intermediate range missiles toward the US Pacific island territory of Guam.

"People need to cut off North Korea economically". So far all efforts to pressure North Korea - sanctions, isolation, and military threats - have all failed to move Pyongyang. "Not all of that attention has been helpful", said Adam Mount, a North Korea expert and senior fellow at the Center for American Progress.

The UN has banned North Korea from developing nuclear weapons and imposed sanctions after past tests.

Seoul's weather agency and the Joint Chiefs of Staff said an artificial 5.7 magnitude quake occurred at 12:29 p.m. local time, in Kilju, northern Hamgyong province, the site where North Korea has conducted nuclear tests in the past. But if the North Korean program is advancing at the pace it claims, it may be too late to debate over negotiations or their meaning - the North may be closer than anyone expected to having a viable nuclear deterrent.

The official KCNA news agency said earlier Sunday that the North's H-bomb had an "explosive power that can be adjusted from tens to hundreds of kilotons depending on the target".

The photos created a stir among missile and nuclear weapons experts on Twitter, with the general consensus being that the design appeared to look about right for a sophisticated thermonuclear warhead.

Kim was also quoted as saying that North Korea can now produce as many powerful nuclear weapons "as it wants".

A news reader called the test a "complete success" and said the "two-stage thermonuclear weapon" had "unprecedented" strength.
