The world's former heaviest woman Eman Abdul Atti passed away on Monday due to complications the underlying comorbid conditions, including heart disease and kidney dysfunction. At her heaviest, the 37-year-old weighed 1,100lbs (500 kgs) and was bed ridden for the majority of her adult life. She was admitted at the hospital on May 4 after arriving in the UAE from India. Doctors at the Burjeel Hospital had previously shared pictures and videos of improvement in Eman's health conditions and said that she was making a positive recovery.

In Abu Dhabi, more than 20 health care professionals were assigned to evaluate Eman and chart a treatment plan, which was divided into three stages.

They said her weight was caused by a thyroid condition.
