After striking out on an opportunity to add David Robertson from the White Sox earlier in the month, the Red Sox have reportedly struck a deal to bring New York Mets closer Addison Reed to Boston.

The Mets officially announced the deal this afternoon after it was reported this morning. Relievers are always in high demand at the trade deadline, and the 28-year-old has played at a high level since being acquired by NY in 2015. He's 5-6 with a 3.25 ERA in Low Class-A and High Class-A this season.

The Red Sox will send three prospects to NY in exchange for their new reliever.

Jeanne Moreau, iconic star of 'Jules et Jim', has died
In 1960, she won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival for Peter Brook's Seven Days. In her early career, the aging global lions of directing lined up at her door and Moreau answered.

The three prospects are all ranked in the top 30 of the Red Sox's system, but it's a weak system and none of them are on's top 100 prospects list. Before his trade from Arizona, the righthander had even spent a portion of the season in the minors. During that time, he ranks 12th in the majors in appearances (183) and tied for 16th in ERA (2.56). He has been the Mets' closer in Jeurys Familia's absence and has 19 saves this season.

When Reed first was acquired, the Mets had leaned toward non-tendering him at season's end, a concession to his projected jump in salary due to arbitration. He primarily served as the set-up man to Jeurys Familia during his tenure in NY but Familia has appeared in just 11 games this year. In 145 career games with the Mets, Reed posted a 2.09 ERA with 156 strikeouts over 142 innings. This season, Reed took to the closer's role and has flourished with 19 saves in 21 chances.

It is very much a rental move for the Red Sox as Reed will be a free agent after the season. "I think it may have had some scuffles here and there, but I think predominantly through the entirety of the year that we've been a pretty good bullpen".

Massive blast at mosque kills at least 20 people
Areas dominated by Shia Muslims in Afghanistan have been hit by attacks repeatedly in the past year, by both IS and the Taliban. About 30 people are reported to be wounded, and local officials say the death toll is expected to rise.

The deal is pending medical reviews and will return three minor league pitchers to the Mets. Of the three pitchers Sandy Alderson and company received, only one (Callahan) is close to the Majors at this point.

Callahan, who was Boston's second-round pick in 2012, is in Triple-A.

Microsoft's Word Flow keyboard removed from the App Store
Those are impressive results for an app that launched initially on Android in 2010 and arrived on iOS less than two years ago. Word Flow's most striking feature was the optional curved keyboard called Arc, meant for easier use when typing one-handed.
