The U.S. military says it has called off the search for three U.S. Marines who are missing after their tilt-rotor aircraft crashed into the sea Saturday off Australia's east coast.
Recovery efforts continue for three missing service members after 23 of the personnel aboard the Osprey were rescued, Davis said.
"One of the Royal Australian Navy's survey ships, HMAS Melville, is now en route to the search area from the ship's home port of Cairns", Senator Payne said.
An Australian navy ship arrived in Shoalwater Bay in Queensland state Sunday night to help the us military hunt for the Bell Helicopter MV-22 Osprey, which the Marines said was conducting regularly scheduled operations on Saturday when it crashed into the water.

The Osprey is an assault-support aircraft with the capability to land and take off vertically and was in Australia for a joint military training exercise held by the U.S and Australia last month.
