Britain's biggest auto seller says that it will offer owners of older, more polluting cars £2,000 off the price of a new vehicle between September and December.
The offer announced Tuesday is available to new auto buyers who trade in vehicles registered before December 31, 2009.
Consumers will be given 2,000 pounds off new Ford models ranging in price from around 12,000 pounds to more than 20,000 pounds.
Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director, said: "Ford shares society's concerns over air quality".
"Removing generations of the most polluting vehicles will have the most immediate positive effect on air quality, and this Ford scrappage scheme aims to do just that".

While the incentives from BMW and Mercedes require the owner to have kept their old auto for a minimum of 12 and 6 months respectively, the Ford deal says you only have had to be the registered keeper for 90 days.
