The controversy started when President Donald Trump posted a Tweet with the GIF of him attacking the figure representing CNN.
Things escalated quickly on Wednesday when many people on the left and the right parsed a qualifying sentence in the story and offered their interpretations. "Is CNN going to blackmail this person, too?"
For its part, CNN defended itself by denying "any assertion that the network blackmailed or coerced him". It's not really meant to be taken seriously, but the president tweeted it before the Fourth of July holiday and everyone thought freedom of the press levels in the USA dropped to that of Iran.
Kelly Clarkson slams fat-shamer
The 35 year old singer and former Grammy victor wrote a patriotic tribute on the Fourth of July when she took to Twitter . I'm such a creative person that I yo-yo. "So, sometimes I'm more fit and I get into kickboxing hardcore".
One of the factors that made Twitter users most angry was speculation on the Han*ssholeSolo's age, with some claiming he was only 15 years old.
The Redditor who created the gif took to the site's message board Tuesday and issued a public apology in a post that has since been removed. Fair enough. Some speculated it was because the Reddit user was a minor, yet CNN now admits he is an adult male.
CNN seemed to broker a deal with the Reddit user who apologized for creating the video. "So I guess they weren't effective threatening the admin [istration] so they go after & bully a 15 y/o? I hope it does serve others as an inspiration to stop".
Lauren Conrad and William Tell welcome baby
"We are thrilled to share that we welcomed our son Liam James Tell into our family ", the couple told People later the same day. She posted a photo of cross-stitch wall hanging which shows Lauren, husband Will, their two dogs and their newborn baby .
CNN tracked down and contacted the man behind HanA-holeSolo, though agreed to not publish his information.
The claims of blackmail specifically refer to the lines in the article where CNN journalist Andrew Kaczynski confirms that following the posting of his apology, the Reddit user returned calls from the network, confirmed his identity, and expressed concern about his personal identity being revealed.
"First of all, I would like to apologize to the members of the reddit community for getting this site and this sub embroiled in a controversy that should never have happened", the user, HanA**holeSolo wrote. However, screenshots were posted online by BuzzFeed News reporter Brandon Wall.
Adding to the drama, however, is the question of how this video wound up in Mr Trump's hands in the first place. Trump tweeted a link to the video, with some modifications, and it has become the president's most-shared social media post yet, according to Twitter. It also has sound, which HanA**holeSolo's does not.
