Isabel Martinez, 33, appeared before Gwinnett County Magistrate Judge Michael Thorpe a day after police said she stabbed the five to death and seriously injured another child at a home near Atlanta, Georgia.

Police had said the Romero and Martinez family lived in a quiet neighborhood, but that changed after a 911 call from inside the mobile home at 4:47 a.m. Thursday.

No details concerning the murder or how Martinez came to turn against her family were readily available.

Martinez wagged her finger at the judge and shook her head "no" as Thorpe listed the charges against her, including five counts of murder and malice murder along with six counts of aggravated assault, according to the Associated Press.

Pihera said Martinez was cooperative with police investigators, but the motive behind the crimes is not being released. "She seemed so normal, like a regular mother".
