"After feeling unwell during practice in Budapest on Friday and Saturday, Felipe Massa will not drive for the remainder of the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend", Williams said in a statement released ahead of qualifying.
Having not featured in an F1 race for the last three years, Williams is fully backing Scotsman Di Resta to do the business this weekend and fill the void left by Massa.
"Felipe visited the medical centre and the MH EK Honvedkorhaz hospital for precautionary tests on Friday, after feeling unwell and dizzy during FP2".
Williams reserve driver di Resta, who had been put on standby overnight, has been given the nod to take over the vehicle for qualifying. He has not appeared in an F1 race since the 2013 Brazilian Grand Prix.
U.S. places new sanctions on Iran following rocket launch
This is while the deal between Iran and a group of six world powers, including the U.S. , has nothing to do with Iran's space or missile programs.
Massa, 36, had been given the all-clear by the FIA to continue his participation here on Saturday morning after he was taken to hospital following complaints of dizziness.
Di Resta was due to commentate for Sky F1 at the Hungaroring but swapped the commentary box for the cockpit at just 30 minutes' notice.
"I think if we had to have anyone in our auto, you're going to have total confidence with someone like Paul".
"It's weird. I was sitting talking about what we'd be saying in the qualifying build-up show, but diving straight in, I'm not going to lie, I was scared, I was nervous, anxious".

Philander struggled with a stomach bug throughout the day, but showed signs of improving health towards the close of play. It was a day which had hung in the balance for most parts, with neither side seemingly willing or able to take advantage.
Williams said that modifying the vehicle for di Resta was not a big issue. "He's suffering from some vertigo following a problem with something in his ears so I'm not exactly sure of the medical terminology of it, but obviously he needs to go for some further investigations, which he will do after this grand prix". Massa had been complaining of dizziness, meaning that di Resta was thrown right in the deep end - his only previous experience of the 2017 auto coming in the team's simulator. You are tuned in for a race weekend and then you don't race but he has made the right choice.
"These cars are top of their game and it is like being back at home driving the best balanced vehicle you have ever driven".
"I think he's more upset than anything else", Williams told Sky Sports on Massa's situation.
