WatchOS 4 Revealed with New Watch Faces, Workout UI, and More

With each raise of the wrist, the information on the display dynamically updates based on the time of day, daily routines and pertinent data from apps such as Activity, Alarms, Breathe, Calendar, Maps, Reminders and Wallet, as well as headlines from the new Apple News™ app for Apple Watch.

This week Apple's Kevin Lynch stood on stage at WWDC 2017 and spoke about the next big update to the Apple Watch. For instance, the app will now be able to call out to you by your name and will also help you reach fitness goals it sets for you by offering words of encouragement. All Watches will be eligible to release the operating system for free once it is released in the fall.

Apple is also bring kaleidoscopic faces to the Watch - something it describes as "trippy".

Apple is showing this off as a quick-access tool for appointments, Wallet tickets and more.

The Workout app will upgraded with better coaching, monthly challenges, fancier visuals, and a new mode for High Intensity Interval Training. In addition, Apple has partnered with several fitness equipment manufacturers to enable two-way real-time data exchange between the Apple Watch and gym equipment. If you're using a treadmill, elliptical, or other machine that can connect to an NFC-enabled device, you can pair the Apple Watch to it so you can see information like heart rate directly on the machine. Previously you could only choose one exercise, say running, to track at one time. You have the ability to do multiple workouts in a single session as well. This will likely be embraced by triathletes and other athletes who want to go from one workout to the next without stopping and saving over and over.

Finally, native core bluetooth will come to all Apple Watches once WatchOS 4 starts hitting them.

The Apple App Store is also getting a revamp, picking up clues from Apple Music's design which has apparently been successful with the public.
