Firing another investigator will force even his allies in Congress to deal with constituents who will demand to know if their president is neither. The attorney general, Elliot Richardson, resigned rather than doing so, putting the onus on deputy attorney general William Ruckelshaus, who also chose to resign.

House Russia probe leader Michael Conaway, a Texas Republican, and Rep. Adam Schiff, the investigation's top Democrat, were set to meet with former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson - just a few days after Senate investigators interviewed him. Trump, who isn't typically shy about leveling criticism, especially on Twitter, hasn't commented on the longtime former Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich led one line of attack with a tweet that said "Republicans are delusional if they think the special counsel is going to be fair". Mueller's team includes big Democrat donors.

In recent days, the president has told his staff, his visitors, and his outside advisers that he was increasingly convinced Mueller, like Comey, his successor as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was part of a "witch hunt" by partisans who wanted to see him weakened or forced from office.

And something that would have an immediate - and negative - effect on the way reporters interact with elected officials. He told Politico's Burgess Everett , "of all the problems in America, [reporters] are pretty down the list".

WHAT IS President Donald Trump so afraid of when it comes to the ongoing Russian Federation probe? The White House on Monday night said that Ruddy did not speak for Trump but did not deny that Trump was weighing whether to let Mueller go.

The source of the media's furious reporting, Chris Ruddy actually sat down with White House Correspondent Kristen Welker for NBC Nightly News.

According to the Times report, Trump was "angered by reports in Breitbart News", and "other conservative news outlets" that Mueller was close to Comey. Ruddy hit back: "It is a sad commentary that Sean Spicer spends so much of his time objecting to my comments at the same time he has done such a poor job in defending the president and promoting his many accomplishments", he said, perhaps concerned that his Mar-a-Lago tête à têtes with Trump might now become less collegial. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations.

Rosenstein said that he had had no good cause to dismiss the special counsel. The interview was first reported by PBS.

Sanders declined to say whether Trump had confidence in Mueller.

The British elections- a setback not a devastating defeat
Pollard accuses May of gambling the country's future on the hopes of strengthening her own position. British voters headed to the polls after May had called for general elections in April.

President Donald Trump has no intention to fire Robert Mueller, the former FBI director who is leading the bureau's investigation into Russia's meddling in last year's U.S. election, the White House said Tuesday.

Sessions' testimony did not provide any damaging new information on Trump campaign ties with Russian Federation or on Comey's dismissal, but his refusal to discuss conversations with Trump raised fresh questions about whether the White House has something to hide. Mueller served as Federal Bureau of Investigation director prior to Comey was appointed to that position in September 2013. Still, Gingrich said any special counsel with an agenda can "all of the sudden find something procedural and technical to latch onto".

People close to Mr. Trump say he is so volatile they can not be sure that he will not change his mind about Mr. Mueller if he finds out anything to lead him to believe the investigation has been compromised.

"I took it as a very disturbing thing, very concerning, but that's a conclusion I'm sure the special counsel will work towards, to try and understand what the intention was there, and whether that's an offense", Comey testified last week.

White House staffers made a concerted effort to talk Trump down from ordering that Mueller be fired, the paper said.
