Eoin Morgan admits to England regrets after dismal Champions Trophy exit

England captain Eoin Morgan cut a frustrated figure after his team delivered a muddled and lacklustre performance in a humiliating eight-wicket loss to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy semi-finals on Wednesday.

It was Pakistan's third win from as many matches in the Welsh capital, including their triumph over England in September previous year, a victory in the final game of a five-match ODI series that helped them avoid a 5-0 series defeat. "I think we were in a good position when me and Morgs [Eoin Morgan] started going", said Root of England's position of 128-2 with more than 20 overs remaining.

If they want it to be completely neutral ground and bring all the teams into the tournament, which, you know, would have no home advantage, I would keep it the same way.

"Having watched the game against Sri Lanka, we actually didn't think it was that bad", Morgan added.

LA Reportedly Won't Flip Young Stars to Land Paul George
Paul George informed the Pacers on Sunday of his pending decision to leave IN when his unrestricted free agency hits IN 2018. The current CBA makes that contract only available to George under a narrow set of circumstances, and only from the Pacers.

England, previously the only unbeaten team in the tournament and huge favourite to defeat Pakistan, was bowled out for just 211 here on Wednesday. Fair credit to Pakistan.

The left-hander's comment didn't go down too well with former Pakistani pacer Waqar Younis, who took to Twitter to slam Morgan.

England's dismal performance in their eight-wicket defeat in the semi-final, only means that their search for a first global 50-over crown rolls on to the 2019 World Cup on home soil, reports The Guardian. "After two years of positive one-day batting, that is the biggest disappointment", read his column.

"We certainly weren't over-confident", he said. When you look at other teams, you think of Kohli, Smith, Amla, Williamson, Root etc; when you think of Pakistan, you think of its bowlers.

Morgan tried to dominate Hasan at the start of his second spell, but instead edged behind from up the wicket when the seamer pushed the ball wider.

Ben Stokes, usually one of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket, needed 64 balls to scrape together 34 runs and he failed to muster a single boundary on a pitch Morgan described as hard to bat on.

Pakistan's more seasoned players like Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez are yet to fire in the tournament and have so far been overshadowed by the young performers. "But they utilised the conditions well", added the captain.

Pakistan opener Azhar Ali has praised his team's passionate supporters for making his side feel at home in their shock semi-final victory over England. But Morgan chose the wrong moment to attack Hasan Ali, who in the absence of Mohammad Aamer was Pakistan's biggest threat, especially when he was finding reverse swing from round the wicket against the left-handers.
