Paris, France- A auto rammed into a police vehicle on Paris' Champs Élysées Avenue.

Police did not fire a single shot at the scene, but officials confirmed that the driver, who had been flagged for extremism, was badly burned and died.

Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet says the driver whose auto exploded as he tried to ram a police vehicle is "most probably" dead.

Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said the man was killed after an attempted attack on a police convoy. It's the second time this year that police have been targeted on Paris' most famous thoroughfare. But both agree that, as Victoria says, "Unfortunately, we now are used to this".

A spokesperson for the French Interior Ministry said an anti-terror investigation has been launched by the Paris Prosecutor's Office.
