The New York Yankees have placed closer Aroldis Chapman on the 10-day disabled list with left shoulder rotator cuff inflammation, the team announced on Sunday morning. The Yankees recalled right-hander Chad Green from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Chapman gave up an earned run and three hits in the ninth inning on Friday night against the Astros, a 5-1 loss. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he did not believe Chapman was injured. This is the first time he's gone on the DL for a rotator cuff injury since 2011, when he missed 39 days with a similar bout of shoulder inflammation during his second year with the Reds.
Browns' top pick Garrett gets sacked by Hall of Famer
Garrett, though, is hoping to be the start of something great with the Browns, but he also wants to temper expectations. Just to correct, he didn't say he'd hurt Ben, he did say he'd take him down, but you have to spend time with him.
Chapman, 29, delivered five runs, six walks and 21 strikeouts over 12 2/3 innings this season, good for a 3.55 ERA and seven saves.
The move, retroactive to Saturday, was announced before the first game of a day-night doubleheader against the Houston Astros. He was seen shaking his arm during that outing. The left-hander initially remained in the game, then was removed after allowing a single to Jose Altuve. The Yankees sent four not highly regarded prospects for Chapman and then flipped him to the Cubs before the trade deadline in a deal that resulted in the acquisition of Gleyber Torres, who is considered the second-best prospect in baseball, according to ESPN's Keith Law.
Two days later he killed himself
The coroner for Hamilton County has stated that she will be re-opening her investigation into young Gabriel's death. Leader said Gabriel had no history of mental health issues and described him as a happy-go-lucky kid.
Betances had 12 saves a year ago and was awarded the Yankees' $3 million offer in salary arbitration rather than his $5 million request.
The Yankees' bullpen depth means that they'll only be moving from one of baseball's best relievers to another of baseball's best relievers, with Dellin Betances likely set to take over closing responsibilities in Chapman's absence.
Conservatives claim there are no more 'no-go areas' in Scotland
Of course, these losses of support in the north-east were counterbalanced by gains elsewhere. However, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said only the SNP can "stand up to the Tories".
